At Cancer Research UK (CRUK) we invest in pioneering research to help us better understand, prevent, diagnose and treat all cancers. Our research strategy sets out an ambitious vision to accelerate scientific progress to see three quarters of people beat cancer in the next 20 years. Scientific Strategy and Funding is at the root of making this ambition a reality. We are constantly evolving, adapting and implementing the best strategies to beat cancer sooner, broadening our understanding of how to diagnose cancer earlier, tackling cancers with the greatest unmet clinical need, and funding exciting collaborations across the research community. Graduate opportunities at CRUK are truly unique. With a commercial strength equivalent to a FTSE 350 company, we are currently ranked number 2 in the Guardian UK 300 and are perfectly positioned to train the leaders of the future.

As a Scientific Strategy and Funding Graduate Trainee, you’ll have the opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills, working in an innovative environment, in business critical roles, across the 2-year programme. During your placements you will have the opportunity to:

  • help balance our strategic priorities with emerging opportunities
  • work across a diverse range of teams to ensure each of our vital research projects receive appropriate direction and resource
  • apply communication skills to build relationships across the research community, and ensure we stay at the cutting-edge of scientific research
  • develop your scientific career away from the lab bench in a dynamic office environment that fosters growth

To succeed as a graduate on our scheme you will have a passion for CRUK and an understanding of the work that the Scientific Strategy and Funding team do to drive our ambitions. You won’t be afraid to think big and try new ideas and you will always be looking to learn from the people around you. As a solutions focussed graduate, you will be able to show a consistently strong work ethic and have the ability to apply your scientific background directly to the work we do. We put graduates in challenging and exciting roles from the off, so we are heavily invested in your development so you can become a future leader at CRUK. You’ll be free to explore your potential and shape the future growth of the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research.

Every day we achieve extraordinary things by being sharp, brave and united in our work. If you think you can help us beat cancer sooner, apply now!
